Here's the problem with writers who blog. What should we blog about? It seems like we're always being told what NOT to blog about. To wit, you may be have received advice like this: 1.) Don't write about yourself. No one wants to hear about what you had for breakfast, or your cat's vet appointment. 2.) Don't write about writing. That appeals to other writers--not to your readers. 3.) Don't write about politics or other incendiary topics. That will alienate half or more of your audience. If you take this advice seriously, the first thing you'll notice is that most other writers don't. There are highly successful writers (who are also highly successful bloggers), like David Brin and John Scalzi , who blog about whatever stuff they want, including politics. There are gobs of other great bloggers, like Michelle Davidson Argyle , Lindsey Buroker and Joe Konrath , who write about writing. There are others who blog on specialty interests which have ...

Urm, I have some stuff I need to do for my blog. My blog won an award -- squee! -- but I haven't nailed it to the wall yet. I want to catch up on a bunch of blogs I'm following, and I still want to post my thoughts on Endings, which is about half written. (My post on Endings has no ending. O, Irony, you kill me.) Kids are off on Spring Break, I have a few art projects I'm going to bid on and Revenge of the Vomitous Stomach Flu has struck members of my clan again. However, I will brush up my blog eventually, and I apologize for the delay.

As you can see, I'm trying out a new header. I'm not sure it fits well with the rest of the blog's look, but I'll let it ride for a few days and see if it grows on me. I might try something else. Who knows. I'm going light on blogging right now because I'm knee deep in research for my Secret Novel.

When I peeked at my blog this morning, I saw that the two sweethearts who had decided to become Followers of my blog had awakened from their temporary insanity and unfriended my blog, or whatever you call it. I was sad. Then I clicked on Janet Reid's site, and noticed she had lost all her Followers too.  I could believe that all my Followers saw the error of their ways, but hers? No way.  So what's going on? Has there been a Blog Rapture, which swept up all the Followers of Blogs to internet paradise while the rest of us are left behind? * * * Oh, and if I ever do get my Followers back, how do you feel about being renamed "Minions of this Blog"? * * * UPDATE:  My Minions -- er, Followers -- are back! Hallelujah!
